Learn to Purify Water, Make Essential Oils, and First Aid Sprays

Join herbalist Leah Wolfe for an afternoon of taste, texture, aroma, color, and the sense that comes from an immersion in botanicals.

Leah will demonstrate the distillation process of botanical essences, share ideas for recipes, and bring refreshments.

Learn about different extraction methods to make herbal essences (hydrosols) and essential oils with little more than a handful of barks, leaves, and needles from plants that grow in the region.

This experience also comes with the following online materials, available for 30 days so that you can preview and review information to help you develop skills to safely choose herbs that fit your constitution and elemental patterns, plus a guide to ethical foraging.

Leah Wolfe, MPH

Leah is the archetypal herbalist. You know the one, who lives at the edge of town with all the weird plants. Leah travels all over the U.S learning about healing plants from many teachers. In 2013, Leah started the Trillium Center, an educational project for natural arts offering in-person and online experiences in herbalism, foraging, homesteading, folk arts, and disaster preparedness. Leah has a background in health research, public health, and an obsession with herbs, art, and culture. Get in touch, get involved, set up a consultation, or organize a class or outing online or in your area.

Community Distillation for Herbalism and First Aid

  • Course
  • 5 Lessons

Today essential oils are often mass produced using industrial farming and distillation techniques. To make distillation cleaner and closer to home, I'm creating a community of herbal distillers to practice distillation in person and/or receive distilled products for personal use. Community distillation gives us access to locally made products for healing and first aid.
